At least ten people were killed,
including an Islamic Jihad commander and a five-year-old child,
and 65 were injured on Friday evening as a result of
a series of airstrikes by Israel on different parts of the Gaza Strip.
At least ten people were killed,
according to the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza.
This included the Islamic Jihad commander Taysir al-Jabari and a five-year-old girl.
The ministry also said that at least 65 people were
hurt in the Israeli raids and are getting care in hospitals.
The Islamic Jihad organisation announced in a statement that Jabari,
a commander of the Al-Quds Brigades, its armed wing,
was killed in an airstrike on an apartment in the Palestine Tower in the heart of Gaza City.
There were numerous explosions heard and seen throughout Gaza,
and Israeli reconnaissance drones could be heard flying overhead.
Following days of tension following the detention of a senior
Jihad leader in the West Bank, Israel launched its attack.
Gaza is currently under attack by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
The Israeli military issued a statement announcing a “special situation”
on the Israeli home front.
There was a promise that additional information would be forthcoming.
Israeli restrictions on Gaza have been in place for the fourth day in a row,
worsening an already dire humanitarian situation.
According to Lapid’s office, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid met
with security officials earlier in the day to talk about the security situation in the south.
