Taraweeh Dua “Taraweeh” is an Arab word. The literal translation is “to relax or take a break.” Taraweeh is a special form of Islamic prayer that Muslims gather at the mosque to perform in the evening. Muslims all over the world pray the Tarawih and listen to the Quran being read aloud in mosques throughout this holy month. The Muslim practice of taraweeh is highly regarded for its spiritual significance. This dua is recited after four rakats in the Namaz of Tarvih.
Hadith About Taraweeh
According to a hadith in Sahih Al Bukhari, the Tarabi prayer is eight rakats long. For eight rakats, the Prophet (PBUH) led the tarabi prayer. For tarabi, you pray in sets of two rakats, just like you would for your regular salah. The shortest is two rakats and the longest is twenty rakats.

سُبْحَانَ ذِی الْمُلْکِ وَالْمَلَکُوْتِ ط سُبْحَانَ ذِی الْعِزَّةِ وَالْعَظَمَةِ وَالْهَيْبَةِ وَالْقُدْرَةِ وَالْکِبْرِيَآئِ وَالْجَبَرُوْتِ ط سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِکِ الْحَيِ الَّذِی لَا يَنَامُ وَلَا يَمُوْتُ سُبُّوحٌ قُدُّوْسٌ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّ الْمَلَائِکَةِ وَالرُّوْحِ ط اَللّٰهُمَّ اَجِرْنَا مِنَ النَّارِ يَا مُجِيْرُ يَا مُجِيْرُ يَا مُجِيْر۔
Taraweeh Dua In English
“Exalted is the Possessor of the hidden and the manifest dominion. Exalted is the Possessor of Might, Greatness, Reverence, Power, Pride, and Majesty. Exalted is the Master, the Living, the one who neither sleeps nor dies. All-perfect, All-holy, Our Lord, and the Lord of the angels and the souls. O Allah, grant us refuge from the Hellfire. O Granter of refuge, O Granter of refuge, O Granter of refuge.”
Tarabi Ki dua In Urdu
پاک ہے (وہ اﷲ) زمین و آسمان کی بادشاہی والا۔ پاک ہے (وہ اﷲ) عزت و بزرگی، ہیبت و قدرت اور عظمت و رُعب والا۔ پاک ہے بادشاہ (حقیقی، جو) زندہ ہے، سوتا نہیں اور نہ مرے گا۔ بہت ہی پاک (اور) بہت ہی مقدس ہے ہمارا پروردگار اور فرشتوں اور روح کا پروردگار۔ اِلٰہی ہم کو دوزخ سے پناہ دے۔ اے پناہ دینے والے! اے پناہ دینے والے! اے پناہ دینے والے!
How many rakats in taravi ?
There are 20 Rakats of two each in the prayer Taravi. After the fourth rak’ah, the Taraweeh Dua and greetings are said.
How To Pray Taraweeh?
Sadly, the majority of Muslims lack knowledge of Taraweeh. Some of us have recited this prayer before, but we still make mistakes
Here is how to perform Taraweeh correctly:
- It is offered as a normal congregational prayer with the intention of 2 Rak’ah. You have to follow the Imam as you follow him in other prayers.
- After 4 rak’ah, Taraweeh Dua and salutations are recited.
- After 20 rak’at, three rak’ah of witr prayer is offered in congregation.
