In the globe today, there are 2.2 billion Christians. Islam is close behind with 1.97 billion people.
Pew Research predicts that by 2075, Islam will be the most popular religion in the world. This is because the average Muslim woman has 2.9 children, while the average woman in the rest of the world has 2.6.
Although “conversion trends are complex and variable,” according to Pew, “the predictions did not assume that all babies would remain the religion of their parents.” Instead, they tried to account for religious flipping.
