During the Ashura Day procession in Zaria this year,
about six members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria
(IMN) were killed and an unknown number were hurt.

On Monday, August 8, 2022, on the 10th of Muharram 1444,
security forces in Zaria, Nigeria, killed six Shia mourners.

Nasir Elrufai told people to do this.

During the Ashura Mourning Procession,
a group of police and military officers
opened fire on the mourners, killing them.

Sheikh Abdulhamed Bello was giving a final
speech to the mourners when all of a sudden the
security forces started shooting at them.
Muhsin Yaqoub Badamasi was taken out by the violence.
He was the son of Sheikh Badamasi Yaqoub,
who was the brother of Sheikh Zakzaky.
