Recently, some international media outlets reported that Saudi Arabia will start allowing alcohol sales as early as 2026. Still, according to reliable sources familiar with the matter, these claims are not true and have no official backing.
Saudi authorities have confirmed that the Kingdom’s current laws about alcohol stay unchanged. There is no plan to legalize alcohol sales in the country at this time.
The Kingdom continues to focus on its Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to develop tourism by offering visitors a rich cultural and traditional experience. This approach has been well-received by international travelers who appreciate Saudi Arabia’s unique heritage and natural beauty.
Additionally, new regulations have been introduced to control alcohol brought in by non-Muslim diplomats. Embassies from non-Muslim countries are now restricted from importing alcohol and certain other items through diplomatic shipments to prevent misuse. However, limited access under strict guidelines is still possible.
As Saudi Arabia moves forward with its reforms, the country remains committed to balancing modernization with cultural values.
