The General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques sent equipment and people to the Grand Mosque in Makkah on Monday to deal with the rain.

Rain has been planned for in the Mataf, prayer areas, entrances, and exits, and more work has been done to make sure that water drains away and floors dry so that worshippers and pilgrims can do their rituals safely.

In Islam, rain is seen as a sign of kindness.

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia has warned that bad weather will last until Friday, with heavy rains, hail, fog that makes it hard to see, and high waves along the coast.

“From Sunday, January 1, 2023, to Friday, January 6, 2023, thunderstorms will continue in most parts of the Kingdom,” the center tweeted.

The NCM warned that heavy rains would start to fall in Makkah, Madinah, and the Northern Borders area on Sunday night. All schools in Makkah, Jeddah, and Rabigh are still not having classes in person on Monday and Tuesday.
