Is It True That Islamophobia Occurs In Indonesia Where Most Of The Population Is Muslim?
Normally, Islamophobia appears and occurs in countries
where most of the population is non-Muslim,
such as Europe and the United States.
However, recently the controversial term that refers to prejudice,
discrimination, fear,
and hatred of Islam and its adherents
has been raised by several
parties in Indonesia.
In a country where 85 percent of the population is Muslim,
has a leader who is also a Muslim,
and even its vice president is a cleric.
Every Muslim population in Indonesia to this day
is still free to practice the Pillars of
Islam and then Pillars of Faith
which are believed in Islam freely.
More than that, the state also facilitates all out worship
activities. For matters of places of worship,
mosques can be built anywhere without any obstacles.
The use of loudspeakers, to announce the call for the
obligation to pray five times a day in each
mosque without anyone protesting.
Assemblies of taklim are scattered everywhere,
and religious activities such as the commemoration of Eid al-Fitr,
Eid al-Adha, and the commemoration of the birthday of the
Prophet Muhammad SAW is commemorated
and facilitated by the Government
Even for the Hajj, the Government takes care of all that carefully,
maybe only in Indonesia the management of the Hajj is so organized.
Furthermore, the law on marriage in Indonesia
refers entirely to the rules that apply in the Islamic religion.
Certification of halal food consumed by
a Muslim is also a kind of obligation.
In essence, Islam in Indonesia is a religion that gets
first-class treatment. Far from prejudice,
discrimination, fear, and hatred towards Islam,
as is the hallmark of Islamophobia.
