Hair and Nail Trimming Before Eid Ul Adha – Dhul Hijjah

Hair And Nail Trimming Before Eid Ul Adha – Dhul Hijjah

Hair And Nail Trimming Before Eid Ul Adha

During the first 10 days of Dhu Al Hijjah, people who are getting animals
to sacrifice for Eid Ul Adha are not allowed to cut their nails or trim their hair.

People often ask us if they should cut their fingernails and hair before Eid al-Adha or if they want to sacrifice an animal in the month of Dhul al Hijjah. So today, we’ll talk about whether or not it’s real. Hair and Nail Trimming Before Eid

Before sacrificing an animal on Eid al-Adha, everyone who does so should stop
cutting their hair and nails (Start of Dhul Hijjah)

But the hadiths say that this is only true for the person who is making the sacrifice. If there are 5 people in a family and only one person is paying for the sacrificed animal, that person is not allowed to cut their hair or nails, but the rest of the family can do whatever they want. He didn’t cut his nails or trim his hair during this time because he never told his family not to do those things.

What happens if you cut your hair or nails by accident
in the first ten days of Dhu al Hijjah?

That person should apologize to Allah and promise to never make that mistake again.
A person doesn’t have to give money, but he has to say sorry to Allah
and never make this mistake again.

Hair And Nail Trimming

It is mentioned in a direct hadith;

When the new moon of Dhul Hijjah appears and one of you wants to make a sacrifice,
he should keep his hair and nails and not cut them.

Sahih Muslim v.13, Paragraph 2452)

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) didn’t say why you shouldn’t trim it,
but scholars have said that it’s part of the sacrifice on Eid ul Adha
to not cut your nails or trim your hair in the first few days of Dhul Hijjah.

As Muslims, it is our job to do what our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH tells us to do.
In other Hadith, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said;

If you have an animal to sacrifice, you shouldn’t cut your hair
or trim your nails until you’ve done so (Muslim).
