King Abdullah II of Jordan told Israel’s prime minister on Tuesday that the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound’s historical and legal position must be respected.
According to a statement from the royal court, the monarch emphasized the importance of remaining calm and ending any acts of violence “to prepare the way for a political vision for the peace process.”
He also urged an end to any actions that would jeopardize chances for peace.
King Abdullah welcomed Benjamin Netanyahu to Jordan and reiterated Jordan’s unwavering support for the two-state solution, which ensures the formation of a sovereign Palestinian state along the lines of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
