Over 1000 Killed By Earthquake In Afghanistan
A magnitude 6.1 earthquake in Afghanistan‘s eastern regions of
Paktika and Khost resulted in about 1,000 fatalities and 600 injuries.

a statement expressing his condolences.
The statement adds,
“It is with great sadness that we learn that a strong earthquake
struck last night in the Spera district of Khost province and the
Gyan,
Naka,
Barman,
Ziruk
districts of Paktika.
” As a result of the demolition of hundreds of homes,
over 900 people have perished and over 600 have been injured.
The number of fatalities could rise.
We condole with all the victims’ families and loved ones.
The Islamic Emirate’s Ministry of Disaster Management must send out all officials,
governors and regular Afghans as soon as possible to evacuate the martyred,
transport and treat the injured,
and supply emergency supplies to the displaced.
Why did Afghanistan quake?
Search and rescue activities are now being
carried out under the direction of IEA authorities,
according to the United Nations Office for the
Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
Interagency assessment teams have already been
