Far-right Danish Politicians In Sweden, Leader Stram Kurs Burns Another Quran While Surrounded By Police.
Stockholm — Under police protection in Sweden, the leader of the
Danish far-right Stram Kurs (Hard Line) party burnt another copy of
the Muslim holy book, the Quran.
Rasmus Paludan, a dual Danish-Swedish national, recently burnt copies of
the Quran in the Muslim-populated Frölunda, Boras, and Trollhättan districts of
the southwestern province of Västergötland.
Paludan has been accompanied by approximately 100 police officers as well as
10 plainclothes officers from the Swedish intelligence agency SAPO to
protect him from counter-demonstrators.
Since 2017, Paludan has burned the holy book in several Danish cities.
He continued his provocations this year near Muslim-populated neighborhoods
and mosques while under police protection during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Riots erupted in the cities of Malmo, Norrkoping, and Jonkoping, as well as
in Stockholm, damaging 125 police vehicles and injuring 34 officers
while 13 people were arrested.
