“Istikhara Dua” means to ask Allah (the Highest) for good things.
When someone wants to do something important, they do isitikhara before they do it.
When someone does, it’s as if they’re asking Allah Almighty,
“O the Knower of the Unseen (Praise be to Him), tell me if this task is good for me or not.”
Bukhari, Book 2, Chapter 21, Number 263, says:
“The Prophet (Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam) taught us how to do Isitikhara,
just like he taught us the Suras of the Quran,
How To Pray Istikhara With Dua
First, pray two cycles of ritual (called “raka’s”) Prayer (nafil): Say Surah al-Kafirun (Chapter 109) in the first raka’
after Surah Fatiha (Allhamd) and Surah al-Ikhlas in the second raka’ after Surah Fatiha (Allhamd..). (Chapter 112).
Say this Dua when you’re done praying:
‘Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi’ilmika, Wa astaqdiruka bi-qudratika,Wa as’alaka min fadlika al-‘azlm Fa-innaka taqdiru Wala aqdiru, Wa ta’lamu Wala a’lamu, Wa anta ‘allamu l-ghuyub. Allahumma, in kunta ta’lam anna hadha-l-amra Khairun li fi dini wa ma’ashi wa’aqibati amri (or ‘ajili amri wa’ajilihi) Faqdirhu wa yas-sirhu li thumma barik li Fihi, Wa in kunta ta’lamu anna hadha-lamra shar-run li fi dini wa ma’ashi wa’aqibati amri (or fi’ajili amri wa ajilihi) Fasrifhu anni was-rifni anhu. Waqdir li al-khaira haithu kana Thumma ardini bihi.’
How Frequently?
It depends.
Sometimes the answer can be obtained in a single attempt, while other times it may take longer.
Stop performing isitikhara if you have received a response as described below.
You do not have to continue to practice isitkhara for 7 days.
After saying the above-mentioned prayer,
it is preferable to sleep with ablution (those who are unable to maintain
ablution for longer periods owing to health issues do not need to do ablution before falling asleep)
(facing the Qibla is not required but it is a Sunnat of our beloved Prophet Peace Be Upon Him).
It is preferable to say salutations (durood/ Salawat) on the Prophet Allah’s Grace and
Peace be upon him before and after reciting the preceding Dua (supplication).
If in the dream one sees whiteness
(anything white in color, such as milk, white paper, white sky, white clothes, white light, etc.) or greenness
(anything green in color, such as grass, plants, trees, green clothes, green light, etc.),
then this task is preferable, whereas if one sees redness
(anything red in color, such as blood, red clothing, red fruit, red light, etc.)

After seven days, pursuing whatever intention towards your targeted work develops stronger in your heart.
