India: Quran Instruction In Punjabi Schools Has Been Elevated To a Higher Level

The Punjab School Education Department has told all divisional, district, and chief executive officers of schools to teach the Holy  Quran from primary to higher secondary.

It also told all of the divisional directors and additional directors to keep an eye on how the subject is taught and learned in schools across the division. Monthly reports should be sent to the directorate by the 5th of every month.

Rana Liaqat, the leader of the Punjab Teachers Union, told the media that the government should hire more than one Quran teacher in the province’s high schools and higher secondary schools to teach the Quran to students in grades 1 through 12.
