KARACHI, Pakistan — Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan

has gone after laying landmines for the incoming administration, according to Finance Minister

Miftah Ismail, while inflation has decreased and the currency has improved.

He told a news conference in Karachi on Wednesday that the UAE visit had a positive

response, adding that Saudi Arabia will shortly declare an oil credit ceiling.

They told the IMF that they would not offer subsidies on petrol and would instead impose

an Rs30 levy and a 17 per cent sales tax, the minister said, referring to the PTI regime’s

incompetence in addressing the country’s economic challenges.

This means that, according to the agreement made with the PTI,

the price of petrol should have been Rs295 and not Rs150.

the prices of vital goods since PM Shehbaz Sharif took office.

He alleged that the PTI administration had created difficult-to-follow agreements.

He went on to say that sugar is now offered for Rs 70-75 per kg and a 10 kg flour bag costs Rs 400

and that the price of a 20 kg wheat bag has been reduced from Rs 1100 to Rs 800.

The minister went on to claim that during the PTI chairman’s 3.5-year term,

the government raised interest rates and borrowed Rs 20000 billion, accounting

for 80 per cent of all loans obtained by the government in the previous 71 years.

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry used to assert that Miftah Ismail’s business thrived

during Imran Khan’s administration and portrayed it also as proof that Khan’s administration was doing well, he added.

Miftah alleged that ghee was presently available in utility stores for Rs260/kg and that the

PTI Chairman had left behind record inflation, which was also driven by record deficits and debts.

The finance minister also complimented the PTI government’s Kamyab Jawan

project and promised to maintain the youth development programme.

He recognised that the previous PTI administration did some wonderful things,

like the Kamyab Jawan programme, which the PML-N government will continue.
